Battle of Sumter
The Northern army has held the fort at the time also needing the needs of supplies of food and ammunition. The person who was in control of the Confederate army was a person named Beauregard. He had said, "The enemy has assailed my outposts in heavy force. I have fallen back on the line of Bull Run and will make a stand at Mitchell's Ford."He had a plan to evacuate the fort because they were not able to resupply and the Union army had refused for them to leave the fort. At the end the Union army had lost to the Confederate (won the battle) which had started the Civil War. Also has made South Carolina the first state to secede. Also, the South had won this battle.
Battle of Bull Run
Battle of Bull Run is considered the first battle of the Civil War. The Union Army wanted to get revenge and reach the capital of the Southerners. The capital of the the Southerners was named Richmond. The second Lieutenant of the South was a leader named Joseph Johnston and said, "A rich man's war and a poor man's fight..." He was control of the U.S. 4th artillery. By the time the Union Army has broken the army the confederate army had retreated, but they had come back with reinforcements. The Union army wanted revenge after they had retreated back to the North. The South had won and proved that this was not going to be a one-side war.
Battle of Gettysburg
This battle was the shortest war of all. It has equaled to a three day war. It's considered the last major war in the Civil War. General Lee wanted the battle to end so he had planned to go right in the middle of the battle and said, " I cannot trust a man to control others who cannot control himself."The Confederate had cautioned the attack because they have no idea the amount of troops the Unions has. After the attack the North had to be pushed backed. The Union reinforcement had came and went up to high ground named Cemetery Ridge. Confederate couldn't flank because of the high ground. The mistake of the South was making the troops go straight in the field which had made them loose. At the end the North had won.
Sherman's March
Ulysses Grant was trying to capture the capital of Southerners named Richmond. At the time he had sent William Tecumseh Sherman to clear the South. He was trying to lure the enemy into a fight after a long chase and said, "I make up my opinions from facts and reasoning, and not to suit any body but myself. If people don't like my opinions, it makes little difference as I don't solicit their opinions or votes." Sherman had WIPED OUT EVERYTHING in his path to the South. By the time he gotten there he had burned half of the city down to the ground. He had continued to Savannah on the Atlantic coast and had turned North into South Carolina and North Carolina. This was the turning point of the Southerners lost. North had won the battle.
